Step-by-Step Verification Guide

Find the Security Sticker
Look for the holographic security sticker on the packaging. Authentic products have a hologram sticker with a QR code and a unique numeric code printed below it. The sticker should have a shiny, color-shifting holographic effect when tilted — fakes often have a flat, non-reflective print.

Scan the QR Code
Use your phone camera to scan the QR code on the sticker. This should direct you to the official brand verification website. For example, ELF BAR codes should go to www.elfbar.com.

Check the Domain Carefully
This is the most critical step. Counterfeit products often have QR codes that link to fake domains that look similar to the real one.

Verify the Activation Count
When you enter the code on the official website, it should show that the code has been verified only once or very few times. This is crucial:
Authentic
"This code has been verified 1 time" or "First verification"
Likely Fake
"This code has been verified 47 times" — replicas reuse the same code across many units
Red Flags — Signs of a Counterfeit
QR code links to an unknown or misspelled domain
Security code has been verified many times (10+)
Hologram sticker looks flat or doesn't shift colors
Packaging has spelling errors or blurry printing
Price is significantly lower than market average
No security sticker or QR code at all
QR code links to the real domain but shows excessive activations
Sticker peels off too easily or looks re-applied
